Court, South First St., Westhaven, Riverside and Blue Ridge Commons and over 50
volunteers from FFV and P & R.
When
The event
is taking place on Saturday, June 14, 2008 from 10am-4pm.
Where
The
children will be bused to the put-in at Howardsville on the James River and
canoed 6 miles to the take-out at Warren Ferry.
Charlottesville Parks and Recreation has
teamed up with the local chapter of the Float Fisherman of Virginia, a
canoeing organization, to host the second annual Kids Float on the James River. The trip is designed to give city youth, who have never canoed before, the
opportunity to float Virginia ’s largest river. We are still looking for more volunteers and boats for the Kid Float on June 14th from Howardsville to Warren. We will be meeting at the Howardsville
put in at 9am. There are 47 kids signed up and we currently have 39 volunteers
and 28 boats. If you are interested in helping out, please let me know. I
really hope you can join us, it’s so much fun and the kids really aren’t that
scary! Please pass this on to anyone you think might be interested. Feel free
to contact me with any questions; Parents and those with
their own canoes are welcome to join us as well. For more
information or to register please contact Erica Sims at
