The President's Paddle
Hello fellow paddlers
and fishermen
The
winter meeting was held December 1, 2001 at the Cumberland State Forest
Headquarters. It was unusual
to have a spring-like day that time of the year, so we took advantage of
it held the meeting outdoors. We established the schedule for the upcoming
year, starting with the Highland County Maple Festival, March 16-17 2002.
The full schedule is included in this newsletter. Thanks to Jim Garner for
another outstanding meal and thanks to the Steve Keller Chapter for
providing the oysters.
Due to conflicts involving availably of campsites, the
Memorial Day float has been moved to R5 and the date of the VIP float had
to be moved to the weekend of July 13/14. The Labor Day float is unchanged
and will be at the Whitt River Bend Park on the New River at Pembroke, VA
We
are in the process of putting together the VIP float. I would appreciate
all the help I can get, especially in arranging sponsorship for lunch on
Saturday and any other financial help we can get. We are planning a
preliminary float on April the 6th to check for possible
problems with the lunch spot and the take-out. If anyone wants to go with
us, let me know.
I
would like to remind the membership that the VIP float is for our guests
and we need to be a good host by ensuring our guests are provided a
memorable day on the river, and an enjoyable evening. Each of our guests
will need a sponsor to guide them down the river.
The
first float Betty Jo and I will be attending is the George Dickel Chapter
Spring float on the Rockfish River, the weekend of April 13/14. Then on to
the Randy Carter Chapter’s HeadSuckin’ the 27th of April.
Hope to see you all there.
I
need inputs from all chapters so we can put together an agenda for the
Memorial Day meeting. Send inputs to me at leborn8346@yahoo.com
or 8609 Farys Mill Rd. Gloucester, VA 23061
We
need inputs for the newsletter by Feb.5th, May 5th,
Aug. 5th, and Nov.5th so we can get our newsletter
mailed on time. If only we could get your president to remember these
dates your newsletter would not be late.
See
ya at the next float
Larry
